REVIEW:Mahesh (Alok Nair) and his wife Gauri (Ritu Sharma), along with the rest of his brothers — Ganesh (Indrapal Yadav), Suresh (Ashish Shukla) and Ramesh — pledge to send their youngest brother Kamlesh (Raj Meena) to Allahabad with the sole intent of educating him to become a civil servant. Despite being financially compromised, this close-knit family of five go all out and make life-altering sacrifices to support the man with big dreams.
Their Kutumb (family), a word reiterated by Mahesh much to everyone’s annoyance, comes crashing down when the once naïve Kamlesh falls head-over-heels in love with city brat Priya (Neha Khan) and succumbs to her apathetic ultimatum without an iota of shame.

Alok Nair’s holier-than-thou act as the family head is hard to digest, for the primary reason that it is surreal and holds no truth in today’s time. Both Alok Nath and Rajpal Yadav have brief roles in the film and do not contribute much to take the sloppy story ahead. Raj Meena as the backstabbing, thankless brother Kamlesh is a complete misfit and needs to hone his acting skills, so does the rest of the cast.
This family drama, helmed by Amit Shree Yadav, is the B-grade version of Hum Saath Saath Hain and the writer-director is evidently hungover from the 90s style of storytelling. The background score of Kutumb The Family has Kumar Sanu-like voice preaching about the ties of blood and even the actresses have failed at recreating the effortless charm of their counterparts from the bygone era.
Kutumb The Family might have worked despite the muddled up script, had it been conceptualised in the 90s and released around that time. It is way too outdated for 2017.
